Land-use change impacts on the socio-ecosystems of the Chaco ecoregion, a global deforestation hotspot.

Agricultural expansion in tropical and subtropical forests disrupts resource availability and access for marginalized Indigenous communities, threatening livelihoods and biodiversity. Despite the well-documented impacts of forest loss on biodiversity and resource availability, research on how land-use changes specifically affect forest-dependent communities remains limited.

This highlights the critical need for insights to underpin targeted prevention and protection measures for conservation and sustainable development. In this talk, I address the serious impacts of agricultural expansion on Indigenous livelihoods in northern Argentina, a place with high poverty levels, alarming deforestation rates, and unique ethnic diversity.
